ScoutParents

Help ScoutParents develop into an initiative that will benefit families and Scouting. Please visit the discussion forum and website as often as you can to share your comments and ideas and help this Web site evolve into a resource center for parents.

ScoutParents is the vision of lifelong Scouter Gerald I. Lawhorn. Gerald credits much of his life's success to scouting and has been giving back to Scouting his entire life. ScoutParents is one of three missions of the Lawhorn Scout Base, Flint River Council, BSA.

It is his belief that all Cub, Boy, and Venture Scout parents/guardians/mentors should be educated about Scouting so they can fully understand and appreciate the timeless values, character development, citizenship training and other benefits Scouting can have in their son's life as well as with their own. If they do, they will participate and persevere with their son(s) in Scouting and may develop into a passionate Scouter.

ScoutParents is:

  • An initiative that will raise awareness of the importance of parents in the success of scouting.
  • An initiative that will encourage parents to participate in Cub Scouts and/or Boy Scouts with their son(s).
  • An inititiative that will give parents the tools and information they need to help their son(s) stay in Scouting.
